The Outline of a Foundational Business Technology Stack
If you're just starting your business (or thinking to scale it), don't stress about having everything under the sun. If you're trying to figure out where to begin, start small:
A CRM of some type. I strongly recommend HubSpot, since it will grow with your business. However, if you're not ready for that, anything that will allow you to track contact records is fine.
A project management tool. There's so many "this is better than that" reviews about these tools. Honestly, just pick the one that you like and use it. If you're not sure where to begin, check out ClickUp, monday.com, Asana, or Notion.
A business management tool. If you are still using a personal email domain (if it ends with anything other than @yourcompanynamehere.whatever), think to change that and apply it to either Microsoft or Google. Google Workspace tends to be much easier to manage (IMO), but whichever works for you is a good place to start.
A financial tracking tool. There's a bunch of alternatives to Intuit QuickBooks. While I like Xero (after a bunch of research), FreshBooks, Sage, and Wave HQ all work.
That's it. You don't *need* anything else to get started (although I would strongly recommend embracing an LLM like ChatGPT or Anthropic's Claude).
